What was your learning goal for this assignment?
 

I could tell that after reading my paper that I had not properly answered the question at hand. I had not stuck to my primary argument and in general it was not well put. I needed to get a clear understanding of the themes and motif. I needed to understand

Which standard did you target for improvement?
 

I did not use as much quotes and texts from the novel in my essay. I wanted to change this in my revision and use more quotes from different characters in the book. And with that, tie the themes or motifs of the book properly to the quotes and texts

What level of proficiency did you achieve on this standard?   In your own words, why do you think you achieved this level?

I got a 4 which demonstrated a basic use of the quotes in the book. I think I got this grade due to lack of enough quotes derived from the book and even the few quotes that I used, I did not connect them well with the theme or motif that I was talking about.

What strategies did you use to improve your achievement on this standard?

I first read the essay that i wrote and decided what parts I would edit. This meant I would have to talk about new themes and motifs and cut others. I also went back to my journal, and those of my fellow students who read the same book and gathered as many quotes as were relevant with the themes and motifs that I would talk about.

What will you do next time to continue to improve or develop your proficiency on this standard?

I would probably get more texts and quotes from the book that I could use instead of just writing my understanding if what is happening in the book. I would also exchange notes, ideas and texts with fellow members of my lit circle. Other possible choices to make next time is to get a better understanding on how the author builds the theme of the book and get help for my peers and teachers in terms of usage of literary terms

Comment on the HOL for which you were assessed on this assignment.  

I was given a MEETING which was fairly accurate. I did not always complete the sections which we were supposed to read by the assigned date and so I do see how I did not get an exceeding in my HOLS. It wasn’t bad but it was not my best. I know I can do better next time.
