DOUGLAS MAINA
Lupita's Face

1. This was a collaboration with Annistar and Natasha. Annisatr worked on it first then Natasha, and finally, I did the last touches
2. I started by downloading the kenyan flag. The project was targeted in showing our heritage as africans.

3. I then opened the file with photoshop cs6. It is muhc easier to use the same program if you are working with 2 different images that you intend on using for the same purpose.

4. I selected the cloning tool and clicked on the area I wanted to copy. I then switched files to Lupita's and started cloning the flag on her lips as so.

5. After I finished clonnig, i had to use the smudge tool to get the lips looking like the rest of the picture. The direction in which you smudge is also very important as it can change the way someone looks at the picture.

6. I decided to go on an clone on her eyelids too and make the picture more interesting. But using the same opacity(100%) would make one's attention be drawn to the eyes than lips. I changed it to 35%

7. I also reduced the strength of the smudge tool before using it on her eyes. At 50%, the smudge tool would not distort the rest of the eye area.

8. Finally, the direction in whcih you smudge was key here. I decided to do it upwards in order to give the photo a stylish sense while still staying true to the message.
